Rod Woodruff - Chair of the Board
Exxon/Mobile - IT Manager (Retired)
Mr. Woodruff graduated from Penn State University with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in computer science. Throughout his career at ExxonMobil, he specialized in IT Project Management, Refinery Project development, Oil Movements Plant Operations, Downstream Business Controls and Company Internal Audit.
His management and leadership role as Downstream Global Controls Coordinator (2000-2010) focused on internal business controls for ExxonMobil’s Downstream operations. After the merger of Exxon and Mobil, he worked to ensured effective security & controls were built into existing and new systems. He also focused on coaching the junior staff and mentoring his future successors.
He also served as IT Downstream Controls Adviser (2010-2015). He continued to identify and address crucial business control needs for ExxonMobil’s global operation. He also created and led a project to developed an automated tool to assess application risk and key controls to address the risk. In addition, he was a required security signoff for all major Downstream IT projects.
Mr. Woodruff began his career as an analyst at the Exxon Bayway Refinery in New Jersey. During his service, he advanced through several leadership positions, including senior analyst, Refinery Offsites Supervisor, Oil Movements Senior Supervisor, IT Senior Supervisor, Project Manager, Latin America Lead Auditor and Audit Manager. As Exxon’s International Y2K Coordinator, he led critical initiatives to prepare for the Y2K Transition, including system upgrades and organization readiness.
With his experience and expertise, Mr. Woodruff has made tremendous contributions at University of North American. He started as an advisor to MBA program in 2015 and was elected Chairman of the board of trustees in 2025.

John Colantoni - Vice Chair of the Board
PRIMIS - EVP
During his 43-year career in the business sector, Mr. Colantoni specialized in internal auditing and risk management.
From 2020 to 2023, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at Primis Bank in McLean, Virginia, where he oversaw all aspects of the bank’s risk management program.
From 2013 to 2020, he was Chief Audit Executive at Sonabank, leading the independent evaluation of bank operations and corporate governance to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
From 1989 to 2013, he worked as a Senior Audit Specialist at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, DC, supervising audit teams for the Office of Inspector General on matters related to the FDIC’s regulatory responsibilities.
Earlier in his career, he served as an Auditor at the General Services Administration (GSA) from 1979 to 1988, conducting audits of major corporations under contract with the agency, including large construction projects.
Mr. Colantoni earned a BSBA from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1979 and graduated from the New England School of Banking at Williams College in 1997. He also completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2000. He became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Virginia in 1988.

Jerry Brown - Trustee
ADIT Solutions Inc. - President
Lieutenant Colonel (LTC.) Brown currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. He is also the former Chair of the Board of Trustees at University of North America.
LTC. Brown graduated from The Citadel as a Distinguished Military Student and was commissioned as a United States Army Armor/Cavalry Officer in 1966. He earned Airborne and Ranger qualifications and served in a variety of Armor and Infantry command and staff assignments, including combat service in the Republic of Vietnam. He later served as a Program Manager in Research and Development, contributing to several combat vehicle programs, including the XM1 Tank program, which evolved into the M1 Abrams Tank.
After retiring from the U.S. Army in 1988, LTC. Brown served for more than 30 years as President and CEO of ADI Technologies Inc. He also served as President and CEO of ADIT Solutions Inc., a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. In 2003, LTC. Brown was ordained as a clergyman in the Anglican Church in North America.
With more than 45 years of experience in U.S. government research, development, and acquisition systems, he also served as a Technical Advisor to the University of North America before becoming the first Chairman of its Board of Trustees.
His educational background includes a Master of Science degree from the Florida Institute of Technology, as well as degrees from Shepherd’s Heart Seminary, the U.S. Army War College, the Defense Acquisition University, and the Defense Language Institute.

Dr. Yu-li Liu - Trustee
School of Journalism and Communications, Shanghai University - Distinguished Professor
Professor Liu is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at Shanghai University. She is also an Associate Editor of Telecommunications Policy and a member of the Humanities and Arts Sub-Panel of the University Grants Committee. In addition, she serves on the editorial boards of several Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) journals. Her research focuses on AI ethics and governance, new media business models, communication law and policy, big data and privacy, and user behavior.
From 2019 to 2023, Professor Liu served as Head and Professor of the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining City University of Hong Kong, she was a Distinguished Professor at National Chengchi University, where she also served as Vice President for Research and Development from 2014 to 2018. In this role, she led major research initiatives, promoted industry collaboration and innovation, and secured substantial national research funding.
She also held several academic leadership positions, including Director of the International Master’s Program in International Communication Studies and Chair of the Department of Radio and Television. She received Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology Distinguished Research Award for six consecutive years (2013–2018), along with multiple honors for research excellence and academic service.
Professor Liu received her Ph.D. in telecommunications from Indiana University in 1992. As a Fulbright Scholar, she was a Visiting Professor at George Washington University. She has also held visiting appointments at leading institutions worldwide, including the University of Oxford and Nanyang Technological University. In addition, she has served as President of the International Chinese Communication Association and the Taiwan Communication Society and currently serves on the board of the International Telecommunication Society.

Alan Krishnan
BSDC, Inc. - President
Alan is an international business executive with leadership experience across five continents in manufacturing, retail, information technology, and organizational growth.
He launched India's first customer loyalty program for Carona Ltd. in 1978, which grew into the world's largest philatelic club with more than 26,000 members. He also managed the company's network of 175 retail stores, along with planning and distribution.
Throughout his career, Alan has led manufacturing, software development, ERP implementation, systems integration, mergers and acquisitions, and international expansion. His work includes establishing textile manufacturing in Rwanda, managing businesses in Africa, expanding U.S. manufacturing operations into Mexico, and leading global IT operations across the United States, India, Romania, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Mexico.
A dedicated community leader, Alan supports several nonprofit organizations, including the Eye Foundation of America. He has served as President of the Academic Boosters and PTSA at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, participated on the Parents Leadership Committee at American University, and served on Boston University's Dean's Advisory Board.
Drawing on decades of global leadership in manufacturing, retail, technology, and international business, Alan has been supporting the University of North America since 2019.

Carlos Montenegro, ESQ
UoNA - Legal Counsel
Carlos M. Montenegro, Esq., is an accomplished attorney, corporate advisor, and real estate executive with more than four decades of experience guiding organizations through complex legal, governance, and strategic business matters. As Counsel to the University of North America and its Board of Trustees, Carlos provides trusted legal counsel to the University's leadership, advising the President and Board on corporate governance, institutional policy, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making.
Throughout his distinguished career, Carlos has combined legal expertise with executive leadership to support corporate growth, organizational development, and successful project execution. As the founder of Carlos M. Montenegro, P.C., he has represented institutional, corporate, and private clients in corporate transactions, commercial real estate, governance matters, financing, acquisitions, and large-scale development projects. His experience managing projects from acquisition through development has given him a practical understanding of organizational leadership, risk management, and long-term strategic planning.
Before entering private practice, Carlos served as a Senior Associate with the nationally recognized law firm Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman), where he advised clients on complex corporate, transactional, and land use matters. Earlier leadership roles in public planning and private development further strengthened his expertise in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory processes.
Carlos holds a Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law, a Master of City Planning from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Arts from George Mason University. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia and has served in numerous leadership positions supporting business and community organizations.
His unique combination of legal, business, and governance experience makes him a valued advisor to boards, executives, and institutions committed to sustainable growth, sound governance, and organizational excellence.
